Places to chill out in Tbilisi
Tbilisi is not a huge city, but there are lots of places to chill out there. But which one to choose? Today we explore ten places in Tbilisi where citizens like to visit and spend evenings there.

The first place is Vake Park. The building of the park was started in 1946 and 200 hectares of land was designated for that. The park was opened in 1964. Everyone who has been there remembers the huge monument on the hill. The monument
is dedicated to the memory of WWII and is called The Monument of Glory. It is always fun to visit the site – lots of people, different park attractions, cafes, restaurants and a huge place to walk around – one will always find something to do there. The place is ideal for families as well – one can let children have fun without fear of either traffic or getting lost.

Another famous place to spend time in Tbilisi is Mtatsminda’s Park, located at the highest place in the capital. The park was established in 1930. Its area is more than 100 hectares. The Park has changed over the years and is currently one of the favorite places of Tbilisi citizens. The park is known for its attractions. Carousels, Drop tower, Swing ride and lots of other attractions are located there and not only children, adults as well will find them funny and amusing.

Turtle Lake is one of the famous destinations for not only tourists, but locals as well. There are several ways to get there – by car, by Taxi or by cable car. The cable car is the most convenient one to get to the lake – cheap and quick. And while hanging on the cable, one can enjoy a perfect view over the city. There are several bars and restaurants near the lake so one will easily find a place to spend time and chill out there.

There’s one more green, park-like place in Tbilisi – Gardenia Shevardnadze. There is a café and a beautiful garden. The site was opened about 10 years ago and has become very popular recently. Gardenia is located outside of the city centre and one finds themselves in a completely different world after stepping into the garden. Plants of different colours and the aroma of flowers makes the place look and smell magnificent. They sell plants that are endemic to the Caucasus region, so anyone who finds certain plants interesting, can purchase them at the site.

There is one more very special park in Tbilisi – The Botanical Garden. It is located near the old city and have always been gardens that have been owned by the kings of Georgia. But in the 19th century these gardens became state owned and in 1845 were named as the Botanical Gardens. There are plants there not only from every part of Georgia, but from different countries of the world. There are some plants that are already in the red book. After sightseeing in the old city, one can easily enter the garden and enjoy a walk there, through plants that have been collected for decades.

Well, there are not only parks and green spaces to visit in Tbilisi. The site may not be granted status of tourist site, but can be more interesting, than any other place.

The so called Italian Yards have its own beauty. They are shared by several families who live there together. Sometimes, they share everything from common yard to kitchen. Some say that this type of houses were created during the Soviet Era, others say that the name comes from Italy. Today it is not so easy to find out the origins of this type of houses but one thing is clear – if a person wants to explore Tbilisi and how ordinary citizens live, they should see some of the Italian Yards definitely.
