From Tbilisi Civil War to the Present Day
Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia relegated its turbulent days of the civil war to the past. This peaceful city had appeared menacing to the rest of Georgia and the entire world for 15 days in 1991-1992. The images of those horrible days had been reflected in documentaries or photos of Georgian or foreign photographers.

merged with the same locations of the modern Tbilisi. Even though the events took place 27 years ago and Georgians left the terrifying days behind, looking at the photos will probably still bring tears to your eyes.

Tbilisi Civil War was the violent military coup d'etat against the first democratically elected President of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia. The war lasted for 15 days (from December 21, 1991 - January 6, 1992) and caused the death of over one-hundred people. It also destroyed several buildings in the city center. The entire country was plunged into economic recession, energy crises and chaos. The rioters were provided with the military equipment by the Russian side.
