The loggerhead sea turtle, found in Black Sea, remains in Georgia for rehabilitation
The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was found off Black Sea coast in Poti (a port city on the eastern Black Sea coast in western Georgia) several days ago. The loggerhead sea turtle is considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. The giant turtle is found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea.

According to the National Environment Agency of Georgia, the loggerhead sea turtle entered the Black Sea
from the Mediterranean. Specialists of the Fisheries and Black Sea Monitoring Department confirmed the urgent need for a turtle rehabilitation facility. As the Dolphinarium and Aquarium in Batumi (a seaside city in Georgia) do not provide the necessary conditions for the species, the giant turtle was taken to the aquarium in the Paragraph hotel in Shekvetili (a sea resort in Georgia).

The loggerhead sea turtle is undergoing rehabilitation treatment at the above-mentioned hotel. After the rehabilitation course, the giant turtle will be brought back to its natural environment.
