Georgian photographer Giorgi Shermazanashvili has recently visited Kazbegi
(also known as Stepantsminda) and captured magnificent things taking place in the venue. The one night trip was full of adventures.

Kazbegi, situated in the north of Georgia, is home to Mount Kazbegi (or Mkinvartsveri in the local language) which is the third highest mountain in the country. The beating heart of the region is the village Stepantsminda (formerly known as Kazbegi).

Stepantsminda was named after a Georgian Orthodox monk named Stephan, who constructed a hermitage at this location on what later became the Georgian Military Road. Kazbegi is known for its scenic location in the Greater Caucasus mountains. It is a great place for outdoor activities such as ice climbing, mountaineering, horse riding, paragliding, and bike riding.

Photographers will also find this region quite interesting because of its unique nature and unconditional beauty. It is known for its glaciers, natural mineral waters and the historical marvels like the ancient Gergeti Trinity Church, built in the 14th century. From the church, you get a great view of the Kuro mountains, one of Georgia’s most magnificent mountain ranges.
