Visit Gudamakari surrounded by the Greater Caucasus Mountains
31 May, 2019
Gudamakari is a historical area in northeastern Georgia surrounded by Mtiuleti, Khevi, Khevsureti and Pshavi (slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains). Gudamakari Gorge is located an hour drive away from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. If you follow the gorge to the end, you will find the village of Chokhi.
Chokhi is a beautiful village dotted with small stone and wooden houses. You can buy natural products, such as honey, that is particularly good here. Famous Georgian writer Goderdzi Chokheli was born
in the village of Chokhi.
Black Aragvi, the main river of Gudamakari and its surrounding mountains create great views. Recently, Georgian photographer Giorgi Shermazanashvili, also called Shermazana, traveled to Gudamakari and captured one of the most beautiful sceneries of the area. Unfortunately, due to job opportunities and difficult living conditions, the locals have been moving away from Gudamakari.
