Off you go, Satan!

Off you go, Satan!
I am not a believer. Neither am I a pure atheist. Both of these stances are extremely hard to maintain. This is why I have sheltered my poor soul in an agnostic’s hide. But when motherland is in trouble I usually desist from being concerned about my longtime credos and staunch ideals, and I start believing in powers that might, by any presumption, help Georgia in getting out of that trouble. Who cares about beliefs when Georgia needs help! My agnosticism
purports not only the absence of knowledge of God’s existence but also of the knowledge of Satan’s being. Notwithstanding my denial of Satan, I tend to believe that Georgia’s fate is possessed by certain satanic powers in both figurative and immediate meaning of the word. Georgia is in trouble and it needs help without any doubt. And in trouble it is because of those dishonorable territorial losses, suffered a couple of decades ago and still being suffered as severed and bleeding parts of our shrinking body. Georgia is hurting awfully, and the pain becomes unbearable when the loss of our lands and waters continue in time, more so when the attempts of land-snatch recurs oftener than we could have expected. How come that cutting off our lands by our neighbors has become so easy and possible? Those lands were fought for by the Georgian people throughout millenniums. They have always been our historical possessions and our legitimate property. Why has this all become so doubtful? And why is the voice of international community – seemingly supportive of Georgia – so meek and inaudible? The most heartbreaking part of the situation is that even if our neighbors take the entire territory of Georgia, we might stay silent because keeping mum is the only way for us to maintain peace, and provide for our survival. If this is true, why then are we spending that much money on defense? Look, if a neighbor attacks Georgia militarily, we will probably react somehow by putting in action our scanty military strength. A regular moving of borders from outside into inside is probably not enough a reason for fighting the intruder, and I might agree with this – better a bad piece than a good war! If we need to go to war at some point in the future, shall we have to use our army to fight? Let us imagine that Russia is an assaulter who has crossed our borders with tanks, intending to invade Georgia! Are we going to fight Russia? I am asking if we are going to use our arms and soldiers to defy the Russian attack. Could this hypothesis be squeezed into any frame of normal thinking? If not, then why do we need the army? Oh, I forgot it! NATO, our well-wisher NATO! Is NATO going to fight for us against Russians? Where? On our territory? Do we have any idea what that means? In the first place, I doubt that our good new brother NATO is going to spill one drop of blood for us, and secondly, even if he does, the end is going to be catastrophic for this nation. This is why I am saying that Georgia is possessed by Satan, which means that the way out from the devastating status quo is practically invisible: territories lost, state borders screwed up, remaining lands being unceremoniously pinched away by our advantage-taking neighbors, economy making a deep nose dive, our toothless people languidly gnawing at the stale sandwich of ever-present pessimism, prices running upwards and national currency going down, international politics in everlasting cul-de-sac, our riches squandered, our national pride downtrodden, the education level at nadir, our culture sold out, our legislative body crippled with flashes of ignorance, and the government suffering obvious flaws. Listen, Georgia! Why are you letting the Satan possess you so perfidiously and potently? Why don’t you want to find the way out? Now! Without any loss of time! Satan is alive and it is working against you ceaselessly and tirelessly. Stop him! Stop him immediately! And if you can’t, let somebody else do it for you. Believe me there are people around who can and will do it. You have enough brains and power that will kill the problem. Just open your eyes and look around carefully. Satan is here and it has grabbed your soul and body, but it is not invincible. Satanic forces are limited and you can defeat them without any doubt. You only need to be a little smarter, a little stronger and a little more in love with yourself. Some of your thoughtful patriots are prompting you what to do for crushing the Satan, but you are often turning a deaf ear on their comments and proposals. Please, don’t get used to losing your territories, don’t accept being weak and faceless, don’t let your enemies take advantage of you and don’t ignore your friends, who are ready to pull you out of the difficulty you are in right now. Please learn how to discern between good and evil, how to know black from white, and how to make difference between your supporters and adversaries. Time is working against you, Georgia! And the Satan is at work too. Only remember, the Satan is afraid of light. Please use as much light as you need and can for getting rid of its power. Off with it!
