EAT SLEEP RAVE REPEAT - Fatboy Slim's unforgettable performance at GlobalGathering Georgia
This summer Georgia hosted many different kinds of music festivals and GlobalGathering was yet another that “did all the right things.”Aficionados of electronic music have been looking forward to this day, and finally on September 11 the dream of many came true.

Launched in the UK in 2001, Global Gathering quickly established itself as the UK’s leading dance music festival, with a reputation for diverse music programming and quality production. Since then, the festival has been held in various countries
including USA, France, Australia, and Germany bringing its uniquely UK-flavored take on electronic music across the globe. GlobalGathering incorporates such music genres as Drum and bass, House, Trance and Dubstep, allowing people of different tastes to enjoy the music they like.

In Georgia the festival was organized by the sound recording studio called Bravo Records and it took place at Rustavi International Motorpark. The best thing about it? Anyone above 18 years could attend it for free, after passing online registration on One simply had to show the ticket or the photo of the ticket obtained after the registration and he/she could freely enter the territory. As promised, special buses operated during the whole day and night for free, enabling anyone to come from Tbilisi to the city of Rustavi to attend the event.

“I will leave the stage only after both the audience and I no longer enjoy my music,” says the 52-year-old DJ Fatboy Slim
The concert began at 6 pm with performances by Georgian musicians and lasted until 6 am. Foreign as well as local DJs took to the stage offering various kinds of electronic music to the public. There were two large stages installed in the territory providing two different styles of music simultaneously performed by distinct DJs. The guests could enjoy incredible laser show as well as fire juggling performances by acrobats. Visitors could purchase soft and alcohol drinks at the bars suitably placed around the venue. For those who wanted to eat, they could enjoy Georgian barbeque (called mtsvadi) as well as different snacks and hot dogs.

Most of the visitors were delighted with the festival, yet some of them were unsatisfied with the absence of an exact lineup, since it was not known when Fatboy Slim would perform. Also some people complained about the lack of garbage bins and toilets. But let’s hope that next year these issues will be fixed.

Eventually, the main star of the festival emerged on the stage. After an astonishing fireworks display, Fatboy Slim, the legendary British DJ, winner of many MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards suddenly appeared on the stage. The iconic musician’s appearance was the culmination of the show. Fatboy Slim gave new breath to the atmosphere, performing his iconic hits and in response received roaring applause from the audience.

Georgian DJ Zurkin Chkonia

As Georgian Journal was told by Bravo Records, the popular DJ was delighted with the Georgian audience, its energy and positive feedback.

According to organizers of the event, 25 thousand people attended the festival and the event exceeded their expectations. This global festival is planned to become an annual event and to offer the Georgian public more interesting and fascinating shows. The only thing left now is to wonder which famous musician will be the headliner of the next GlobalGathering.
