Borano - Irresistible Adjarian egg pie with cheese
Borano is a traditional dish from Georgia’s Adjara region, made with plaited cheese and melted butter. Usually, melted butter is poured over soft cheese, causing it to melt and stretch. Borano is also often called Georgian fondue. Here we present a rather modern version of borano, which is very popular with Georgian households.

Ingredients:


500g of plaited cheese
4 eggs
1tsp of sunflower oil
50g of milk
50g of butter
Spring onions (optional)
Salt (optional)
Pepper (optional)

Preparation:

Whisk eggs,
add grated or chopped cheese, milk and oil. Add salt to the mixture and blend well.
Take a ketsi (Georgian clay pot) or a deep pan and pour melted butter in it, making sure to grease the edges. Pour the egg mixture in the pan.
You can add chopped spring onions and pepper to the mixture for spicier taste. If you want your dish to be thicker, throw in a couple of spoonfuls of flour.
Bake the dish in the preheated oven at 140-150 degrees for 40-50 minutes.
Serve with greens and vegetables.
