Cabbage rolls with walnuts – It is worth trying!

Cabbage rolls with walnut filling is yet another appetizing and delicious snack of Georgian cuisine. This dish is also known as cabbage pkhali (Georgian meal prepared with herbs and walnuts), so if you are a big lover of different kinds of pkhali, then you will certainly fall in love with this delicacy.

 

Ingredients:

4 large cabbage leaves
150 grams of walnuts
2 cloves of garlic
20 g of vinegar
5 g

of dried coriander
5 g of yellow saffron
20 g of blue fenugreek
60 g of carrots
Salt and dried red chili pepper to taste

Preparation:

Boil carrots and cabbage until soft. Grind walnuts in meat grinder. Knead the ground walnuts until it produces oil. Add little bit of boiled water, salt, smashed garlic and mix. Remove produced oil and keep in separate container.

Add spices, vinegar to the walnut paste and blend well. Apply the mixture onto the cabbage leaves. Place slices of carrot on the walnut mixture and roll up each cabbage leaf in aluminum foil.(You can add dried plums to you taste as well.) Place the roll in the refrigerator to cool for one hour. Slice cabbage roll, pour a little bit of walnut oil over it and garnish with pomegranate seeds.
