World-renowned Georgian pianist Eliso Virsaladze turns 74

September 14 marks the birthday of the iconic Georgian pianist Eliso Virsaladze. Eliso received her first piano lessons at the age of 8 from her grandmother, Anastasia Virsaladze, a well-known music teacher and pianist in Georgia. Then she continued her studies at Tbilisi State Conservatory. She is the winner the third prize in the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1962) and the first prize in the Schumann Competition in Zwickau (1966). The great pianist has been teaching at Moscow Conservatory since 1967 (She became a professor in 1994) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, Germany, since 1995. In addition, she is the jury member in many international piano competitions. Moreover, is an interpreter of Schumann, Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin, as well as of modern and Soviet composers. The famous label Live Classics has recorded most of her broad repertoire. Today the iconic musician turns 74.
