Chiatura – The city of cable cars and oldest cloth
05 November, 2016
Chiatura is a beautiful city in Georgia’s Imereti region. The city is notable for its old cable cars that help locals descend from surrounding villages to the city center. Besides, the place boasts its landscapes and stunning Kvirila River (translates as screaming in English) flowing through its cliffs. In 2009 oldest dyed flax fibers were discovered in one of its caves named Dzudzuana Cave that drew more attention to Georgia, in particular to this place. This discovery made scientists from around the world conclude that the earliest clothing was invented in Georgia.
