Stepantsminda – Majestic town in Georgia’s mountains
05 December, 2016
You might think that it is the famous Alps or perhaps world’s one of the best ski towns? Actually, it is Georgia, in particular town of Kazbegi, also known as Stepantsminda, named after a Georgian Orthodox monk named Stephan, located in the north-eastern part of the country. Although, this highland is not a ski resort, the area is notable for its incredible landscape, Kazbegi Mount and medieval Gergeti Trinity Church built on the hill in the 14th century. The place is especially popular with tourists, since those who are not keen on winters sports, can have a peaceful rest in this cute and fairytale town. Yet, one can easily get to the nearest winter resort of Gudauri, located just 30 minutes away, if by car, and enjoy skiing on various ski tracks as well.
