Dodo Chichinadze - Eternal beauty of Georgian cinema

December 28, 1924 marks the birthday of a legendary Georgian actress and a movie star Dodo Chichinadze. Considered as a symbol of Georgian beauty, Dodo appeared in the movie industry by chance. Originally the actress used to study medicine but one day completely changed her life. As Dodo said in one of her interviews, the mother of a famous movie director Nikoloz Sanishvili, who was searching an actress for his movie Davit Guramishvili, suddenly came across her in the market and was so captivated by her beauty that ultimately told her son about her.This is how Dodo starred in her first movie and since then acting became major and inseparable part of her life.

Dodo Chichinadze peformed in a number of plays at famous Marjanishvili Theatre and was shot in many Georgian films such as : Bednieri Shekhvedra (Happy Meeting), Chrichina (Dragonfly), Tsiskara, Bashi-Achuki, etc. As the actress recalled in one of her interviews, her father was one of the organizers of 1924 revolt aiming to free the country from Russia’s occupation and  had good relations with Kakutsa Cholokashvili, Georgia’s national hero and commander.

Renowned actress passed away aged 85 on November 3, 2009.  Dodo Chichinadze left her path in Georgian cinematography as a great actress and eternal symbol of Georgian woman’s beauty.
