Mesmerizing Georgian Military Highway - Jvari Pass
21 September, 2017
The pass is located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia, situated in Stepantsminda District.

The pass gets its name for the cross placed there by Georgia’s famous king, David The Builder. A replacement cross was placed there in 1824, by Alexei Yermolov, a Russian Imperial general of the 19th century and remains today.

This road is usually open all year round, yet some times it cannot be reached when the access is not cleared of snow. The Georgian Military Road was constructed again by the Russian military in 1799. Magnificent views and fresh air will amaze you there.
