Tetnuldi Peak at night - Unique beauty of Svanetian bride
22 November, 2017
The beauty of Georgia’s mountains is widely known throughout the world. The image depicts Tetnuldi, one of the highest and famous peaks in the Caucasus.

Tetnuldi is a prominent peak in the central part of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range, located in Svaneti, a picturesque historic region in the northwestern Georgia.

Tetnuldi stands right in front of the famous Shkhara, the highest mountain in Georgia, facing it form the South side.

In Georgia, Tetnuldi is called Svanetian bride, because of its peak being covered in white. The name "Tetnuldi" translates from Svanetian as white haired or Blond Mountain, and this name fits it very well. Tetnuldi is the 5th highest peakin Georgia. The slopes of the mountain are glaciated above 3,000 metres (9,840 ft). The most prominent glacier of the mountain is called Adishi.

It was first climbed by Douglas Freshfield in 1896. The first ascent of the north face was completed by Michael S. Taylor and John R. Jenkins.

The place is also notable for its new ski resort in Tetnuldi that was opened in 2016. Tetnuldi Ski Resort  is a mixture of the  two concepts - the absolute authenticity of the place and the modern infrastructure  of the ski resort.

For skiing and snowboarding, there are 25 km of slopes available. 4 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 2,260 and 3,165 m.
