13 October, 2012
Batumi is a seaside city on the Black Sea coast and capital of Adjara, an autonomous republic in southwest Georgia. The city serves as an important port and a commercial center. It is situated in a subtropical zone, rich in agricultural product such as citrus fruit and tea. While industries of the city include shipbuilding, food processing, and light manufacturing, most of its economy revolves around tourism.
Recently, Batumi attracted several international investors. Several new hotels opened after 2009, first
the Sheraton in 2010 and the Radisson Blue in 2011. The Trump-tower and the Kempinski will open 2013.
Climatotherapy, Heliotherapy and Thalassotherapy are the main characteristic features of Batumi as a resort. The sea water is distinguished by its high mineralization here. It is always warm in Batumi.
The city of Batumi, permeated with the aroma of the sea, the sun, magnolias and acacias, is attractive and fascinating all year round.
