Georgian businesswomen sisters sentenced to 4 years in prison
Legal proceedings on the so-called Center Point case have ended. The Judge of the Tbilisi City Court Giorgi Ebanoidze announced the verdict, according to which businesswomen Maia Rcheulishvili and Rusudan Kervalishvili, the former MP, were given 4 years behind the
bars. The sisters, the founders of Center Point construction company, were found guilty in embezzlement of funds, namely 11 million Georgian laris (USD 4.5 million) that belonged to the company called Tabukashvili 88.

Rcheulishvili and Kervalishvili had been sentenced to the pre-trial detention but they were later bailed out by several members of Georgian parliament. The amount of bail was 150 000 Georgian laris for each and the amount was secured by real estate, which was later sent to the state budget, as the court said the defendants violated the bail conditions.
