NEW FATHER OF A LITTLE IRAQI

For some reason a little Iraqi chose sergeant Gebhardt and confided in him with her whole heart. Involuntary father decided not to let the child down. The photo of the soldier and the girl sleeping on his chest has already amazed the world. John Gebhardt, US Air-force Chief Master Sergeant became well-known.

The American serviceman sent the photo with an inscription to his wife: ‘This kid is an orphan. Her parents were hung; we managed to save only her…She was heavily

injured …She recovered soon but is crying all the time. She is soothed only when I take her in my arms and hold against my chest; I can’t leave her and it’s already fourth day that I sleep and wake up with her’.

Everybody took care of the orphan girl but the little Iraqi chose Sgt Gebhardt and got attached to him sincerely. The involuntary father decided not to let her down and for this reason the social network users send him letters of gratitude. The serviceman believes that he has done nothing special; he’s just doing good and loves the girl like his own child.

Their relations started almost one month ago when the American division was stationed at Balad air-base. Life of the little Iraqi has turned upside down in one day – her family fell victim to insurgents’ attack. Her parents and brothers and sisters were massacred and she was heavily injured. The dying girl was miraculously saved by American soldiers.

John Gebhardt has a 25-year-old son Ryan and a 23-year-old daughter Amber back in America. His wife Mandy is proud of having a warm and loving family. Now they have to care about the little Iraqi girl. The Gebhardts are going through the procedures of adopting her.

‘I’m lucky for my family lives a happy life and we’re not facing such threats as the Iraqis’, says the Sergeant. At the same time he thinks he’s happy for having his wife’s sympathy and Mandy is proud of the serviceman husband’s kind heart. ‘It’s because of John’s heart that I’m his wife. He adores children. This photo reflects John’s real face. Prerequisite of his success is that he puts wellbeing of others on the foreground and remembers his own self very late’, says Mandy.

The Sergeant thinks that every child regardless of its nationality has the right for happiness and calls on everybody to help the Iraqi people.
