Detention of photo reporters was unfortunate fact for President – Manana Manjgaladze

Detention of photo reporters was an unfortunate fact for the President, President’s spokeswoman Manana Manjgaladze said at a briefing.
According to her, the President’s Administration emphasizes that the detention has no connection to restriction of freedom of media or journalistic work.
‘Two of the detainees are public servants. Their detention is not related to their professional work. Free speech is protected by legislation in our country’, Manjagaladze said.
As for the statement, made by the President’s Administration before the detainees were indicted, Manjgaladze said everyone, including the President’s Administration, was able to see the official statement of the Ministry of Interior Affairs which came shortly after the detention of the photo reporters. According to her, the statement by the President’s Administration was based on that information of the Interior Ministry.
