‘I WAS ARRESTED BECAUSE I SUPPORT ‘GEORGIAN DREAM’

‘Even if I mount the scaffold they have no chance!’

Nugzar Giorgadze, the inhabitant of Tskhemliskhidi village of Ozurgeti region (Western Georgia) and ‘Georgian Dream’ supporter found young plants of pavlonia on his private land cut. According to Nugzar Giorgadze this barbarity has political basis.

- When I came to my land I was stunned –half of the pavlonia garden was cut. My heart sunk, I plainly saw that there are people capable of doing this. Not being able to do anything

with me they cut the trees. The whole region knew that it was a special economic project. I wanted other village-dwellers to plant pavlonia in order to escape hardship.

‘I’m ‘Georgian Dream’ supporter and there’s no doubt that it is connected with politics. Before this barbarity, ‘Georgian Dream’ majoritarian deputy of Ozurgati arrived here. 160 people from one village came to the meeting. I too, ‘armed’ with documents went there. I had the village council’s decision according to which so much money was allotted to our village that we should have already prospered.  They allegedly carried out work according to village-supporting program and recounted all the ‘virtue’ done to the village. Then a provocateur lady was sent to the meeting – we call such people APCs (Armored Personal Carrier). Well, this woman wanted to say that the country is prospering but she said nothing because she was conscious-stricken.

Many people who attended the meeting had done a lot of good to the country and to this woman too who is mother of seven children. And she didn’t indulge herself to say evil. I was glad to observe that even under these good-for-nothing authorities there are people who can see virtue…

After this the ‘National Movement’ supporters started ‘movement’. They met people and said that there was money allotted to make a fence around the cemetery and they would bring everything but the people had to work for free. The payment for work is allotted but they are telling the villagers to work without payment. After seeing these documents the people guessed that the authorities used to give short of money. They didn’t like such exposure and wanted to hold a meeting on the second or third day. They summoned people but nobody came.

Due to ‘heroic deeds’ of our administration I expressed my protest in 2007 and even attended a meeting in Tbilisi. We’ll show you how to attend a meeting, they said, and searched my and my wife’s houses separately. In my wife’s house they found a rifle that belonged to her grand father and gave me a two-year suspended sentence. When the sentence expired I produced a document and demanded to answer what they did with the money the President was allotting for us… The next day I found my pavlonia garden cut. By this they warned me they would do even worse things if I didn’t collect my conscious. Pavlonia garden is nothing. Even if I mount scaffold they have no chance! This is done by frightened people!

I’m a 63-year-old man but I haven’t lost my honor. They can’t frighten me any way. I’ll grow my pavlonia trees again but the men who did it can’t bring virtue to people and its obvious, isn’t it?
