‘IT SHATTERED SAAKASHVILI’S REGIME’
An episode of meeting dispersal…

Nugzar Zhordania, an ‘Achara PS’ journalist, during the dispersal of meeting at Rustaveli Ave. on that hellish night was saved by a Tbilisi family. Nugzar Zhordania: That night I went through hell. Having seen Niaz Bolkvadze, head of Achara Ancestral Union, writer and philosopher, exhausted by heat, I couldn’t hide my indignation. He had temperature and could hardly stand on his feet.
Situation at the meeting became aggravated late in the evening. Information was spread
that the perimeter was surrounded by special task force units but nobody was going to move. The moment I sent next information to the editor the hell began… Nothing could oppose the force used by blood- and-strength-demonstration- thirsty ‘tough Misha’ and ‘all-mighty Vano’ at Rustaveli Ave…
When the man-in-mask with baton came towards me I ran down towards ‘Kashueti’ church and rushed into a slightly open door of a yard. I looked around; in no flat was the light on; deep in the yard there was faint light coming from the pane of a door. There was no time for thinking and I knocked at the door. It was instantly open. A meddle-aged man was standing in front of me. Without thinking he let me in. Water was dripping from me and he offered his clothes.
After some time special force soldiers rushed into the yard. Having noticed the light they knocked at the door and asked the host if he had seen somebody enter the yard. He assured them that he saw no strangers there. I was overtaken with fear; if they checked the flat I would put under threat myself and this god-loving man but the host was so calm that the soldiers went away. Only after this my rescuer and his wife introduced themselves to me – Professor Otar Asatiani and Mrs. Leila. I think it’s worth living to meet such people. I believe that day in my country there were thousands of other Otar Asatianis and this killed Saakashvili regime.
After some time two young man in dirt-stained cloths came into the yard. Mr. Otar went out, then returned and told his wife: there are two boys, I’ve hidden them in the closet; I’ll give them dry clothes and you make some tea and prepare something to eat…In the morning I was awaken by shameful sound of Saakashvili’s parade. The boys were already gone; Mrs. Leila had dried and ironed my clothes…
P.S. On October 2, Otar Asatiani was the first, dearest-for-me person whom I congratulated with rescuing from tyranny, saving from Misha-Vano and the like…
