Minister of Environmental and Natural Resources Elguja Khokrishvili has resigned
He is the sixth minister to resign as of late. He was appointed to the post in the summer of last year.
Elguja Khokrishvili has submitted a letter of resignation to the Prime Minister.
"I’ve decided to leave my post. While I was a minister, I was able to carry out fundamental changes in state policy together with the governmental team. Important and decisive steps were taken in terms of reforms.
However, a lot of work and effort are still necessary to achieve the desired results. This process is irreversible.
It was a great honor for me to work in this team, but there are moments when one has to make a difficult choice.
At this stage it is important for me to be with my family, who live abroad. This decision gives me an opportunity to review interesting prospects that will allow me to continue my professional work and be with my son.
Prior to making this decision, I spoke with the head of government, and I am grateful that he shared my position. I also want to thank everyone who participated in the important events and changes in the Ministry Environment and Natural Resources.
I would also like to point out that the Ministry has a strong team that will be able to continue with the correct policy and cope with challenges,"- says Elgudja Khokrishvili in his statement.
