Zurab Pololikashvili elected as UNWTO Secretary General

Ambassador Zurab Pololikashvili from Georgia has been elected as Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The UNWTO General Assembly unanimously supported the decision of the Executive Council of 12 May 2017 and appointed Zurab Pololikashvili to the position of UNWTO Secretary General.

This is the first case when a candidate of Georgia occupies the position of the head of the international organiz
ation.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Ministry of Georgia, the new Secretary General was elected at the 22nd session of the UNWTO General Assembly in China. The procedure was attended by Georgian Foreign Minister Mikhiel Janelidze.
