Local elections are underway in Georgia

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili, former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Georgia’s Patriarch Ilia II have already made their choices and voted for their selected candidates.

"A lot of issues are to be resolved today, therefore you should be very active," - Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has called on Georgian citizens to get actively involved in the voting process once he made his choice at Chitadze Street polling station in Tbilisi.

“I would like to welcome this very important day and electors. I would like to call on you, voters to be very active. A lot of issues are to be resolved today. The local elections will resolve many of our everyday life problems and needs. With these elections we make choice in favor of more involved self-governance, better self-governance that will listen to citizens,” Margvelashvili has declared.

According to him the self-governance is being created now and newly-elected city councils members and mayors should serve the society.

Bidzina Ivanishvili visited the 4th polling station at Mtatsminda District, Tbilisi.

After voting, Georgia’s former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has left the polling station without making any comment.

“I have voted for the better Tbilisi and I believe the city will really be better”, - Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has declared after voting at #24 polling station at Saburtalo district.

“I have voted for the Tbilisi where all residents are willingly to live in, where urban transport is in order, where there are green zones for people to rest. I have voted for the city with a good education system and high economic dynamics, where entrepreneurs are happy to launch business… I have voted for the better Tbilisi and I believe it will really be better,” Kvirikashvili has declared.

Georgia’s Patriarch Ilia II has made his choice at the #4 polling station in Krtsanisi District.

“Let Lord lead us to elect those candidates, people who will act in benefit of Georgia”, - Georgia’s Patriarch Ilia II has told reporters after voting.

“God bless all new city councils members and entire Georgia,” - Ilia II has said.
