The occupation and current militarization of our territories is a significant problem, - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated during his speech at the event dedicated to Georgia within the 54th Munich Security Conference.

According to the Prime Minister, Georgia's recent experience is an impressive example that democratic transformation, security and stability can be achieved in the region where unresolved conflicts exist.

"Georgia still faces serious challenges in terms of security. Occupation of 20% of our internationally
recognized territories, the ongoing militarization and hundreds of thousands of displaced people are still significant problems. We live in an era when anyone can be at risk of security threats, which is why highly value our relations with the Western partners, particularly our bilateral ties with Germany. These relations are proven and reliable, and their roots date back to the first German settlements in Georgia, exactly two centuries ago. Germany played a leading role in the establishment of our first democratic republic 100 years ago. Germany still plays a vital role and acts as a guarantor of sovereignty and development", - the Prime Minister said.
