De facto South Ossetia releases two Georgian citizens from illegal imprisonment
The de facto government of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) has released two Georgian citizens from illegal imprisonment after paying the fine.

The de facto regime accused two Georgian residents of the village of Adzvi, Gori municipality, 40-year-old Ioseb Gundishvili and 30-year-old Davit Gerkeuli of violating of so-called borderline.

Two citizens of Georgia are already on the territory under the control of Georgia's central government.

Gundishvili and Davit Gerkeuli has been confirmed by the State Security Service of Georgia.

Two Georgian residents of the village of Adzvi, Gori municipality, have been detained by the so-called border guards when they were visiting at St. George's Church on March 22.

According to some locals, the aforementioned church is located near the occupation line, on the territory controlled by the central government of Georgia, and accordingly, Gudilashvili and Gerkeuli had not crossed the occupation line. However, others say the detainees were detained in the occupied territories.

It was suspected in the village that both men were transferred into the Tskhinvali police temporary detention isolator.

Gori Mayor said Georgian citizens were presumably taken from Georgian-controlled territory.

There are doubts that our citizens have been taken from the territory controlled by the central government of Georgia, - Kote Tavzarashvili, Mayor of Gori town stated.

The Gori Mayor stated that relevant state bodies were doing everything the Georgian citizens to be released to their families.

"Everything is done for their timely return. Relevant bodies are holding negotiations," - the Mayor said.

According to him, Akhalubani is the village, bordering the territory occupied by Russia. The kidnapped citizens were driving to St. George's Church and there are doubts that they were taken from the territory controlled by the central government of Georgia.

The State Security Service informed the EU Monitoring Mission of the incident.

"We confirm that two people have been arrested. The hotline has been activated and EU monitoring mission is informed about the case", State Security Service of Georgia reported.

Over last two years the so called guards at the borderline have detained several citizens of Georgia.

Earlier, on February 22, the occupation regime o South Ossetia (Tskhinvali) detained three Georgian citizens - Archil Tatunashvili, Levan Kutashvili and Ioseb Pavliashvili in Akhalgori. On February 23 it was reported that Archil Tatunashvili died in unclear circumstances. According to Ossetian media, Archil Tatunashvili died in Tskhinvali hospital. Finally on March 21 de facto government of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) has handed over Archil Tatunashvili's body to the Georgian side. The International Committee of the Red Cross was directly involved in the transfer of the body.
