Georgia hosts high ranking guests for the 10th anniversary of the 2008 war

Ten years have passed since the Russian military intervention in Georgia,in August, 2008. The Foreign Affairs Ministers of Poland (Jacek Chaputovich), Lithuania (Linas Antanas Linkevičius) and Latvia ((Edgar Rinkevichs) and the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine (Pavlo Rozenko) have arrived in Georgia today.

By the visit, the politicians are expressing their support and friendship towards Georgia. The officials along with Georgian politicians are planning to visit the occupied regions, the occupation line and to pay their respects to Georgian soldiers who
died for their country during the conflict. A meeting with the President (Giorgi Margvelashvili), the Prime Minister (Mamuka Bakhtadze) and the Chairman of the Parliament (Irakli Kobakhidze) of Georgia is also scheduled during the visit.

The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized a round table meeting: “Peace and Security – 10 Years Since the Russia-Georgia War”. During the meeting, high ranking guests and Georgian officials will discuss the challenges facing Europe in terms of peace and security. The main focus will be on finding a peaceful resolution to conflicts within the region.
