13 dead from swine flu in Georgia, emergency treatment to be free for all
13 people died from swine flu in Georgia so far, but there is no risk of epidemy, says Georgian Minister of Health. Georgia’s Healthcare Minister David Sergeenko announced on Friday that the government plans to purchase additional amount of anti-flu vaccines.

According to Minister Sergeenko, readiness of population for immunization is increased.

Motivation has increased in the direction of vaccination in the population.

“In October-November we conduct the vaccination among high-risk groups, but we used only part of the ordered vaccines.
Now, the readiness of population for immunization has been increased. On the one hand, we welcome the initiative of one of the companies on the free immunization and we are going to make the order to purchase additional amount of anti-flu vaccines,” Davit Sergeenko said.

Outpatient emergency treatment will be free for all the patients with the flu – he said. “Amid the increased flu cases in the country, the government will fully cover the cost of treatment for all fly patients. The novelty will be launched from tomorrow”.

This information was confirmed by the Georgian PM.

Upon the decision of Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, all citizens of Georgia will get antiviral medicine “Tamiflu” free of charge.

“Under the instruction of the Prime Minister, during a certain period of time - at the peak of flu season the Ministry of Health will provide "Tamiflu" to be free for everyone who has a doctor's prescription. The government's decision will significantly facilitate the reduction in the cases of the illness,” PM’s Administration said.
