Salome Zourabichvili meeting with the President and the First Lady of Azerbaijan
Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia, met with the President Ilham Aliyev and the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva within the frames of the official visit to Azerbaijan. Her hosting ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport on the 27th of February.

Salome Zourabichvili held meetings with high officials – the First Vice President, the Prime Minister, and the Parliament Speaker.

"We talked about all the areas and directions that unite our two countries.
We have together passed a historic path that brought us closer to each other. We are geographically close neighbors and history brought us even closer to each other. During the last centuries, we have together gone through tragedies and we have had successes as well, we know what it means to build a state. We know the price of moving forward, building a state, developing economy, culture, and identity, and we feel very close to each other in all of this.

In the last century and at the beginning of this century, we were able to implement very large projects and this is the charm that will introduce us to the world.

In the energy sector we have shown that this region is central and stable, and most importantly, serious investments can be made in this region," said Salome Zourabichvili after the meeting with the president Ilham Aliyev.

At the meeting with the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, the President of Georgia stressed the importance of promoting cultural relations and the need for the popularization of cultural heritages between people of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

President Zourabichvili also met with Georgian students, with successful representatives of the business sector and the Georgian diaspora. In addition, she visited municipalities of Azerbaijan, including Kakhi, Zakatala, and Belakan – which are populated by ethnic Georgians.

The purpose of the visit is to develop a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan as a neighboring state, deepen political, economic relations and cultural relations.
