USS Ross arrives in Batumi port
USS Ross arrived in Batumi port on April 21. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze, the visit of USS Ross once again underscores the support of the United States to Georgia, which is appreciated by the Georgian people.

The head of the government was hosted by US Ambassador Ross Wilson and Commander David Coles. The Prime Minister viewed the ship and received information about its capabilities.

"From the day of restoration of Georgia's independence, the US has always been
beside us in our hardest moments and the Georgian people will never forget it. The security of the Black Sea region becomes more and more important for the international community. Our message has always been very clear for our friends - sustainable security of transatlantic states is impossible without the security of the Black Sea region. Your visit is another strong and friendly message and we thank you for this support," the Prime Minister told the commander and crew members.

Acting US Ambassador comments on Pankisi Gorge developments

"We were closely following developments, it should be noted that it was difficult and there were some problems, of course, this region needs development and development of energy resources is important in this regard and therefore, the private sector, as well as the government, bears the responsibility to settle this situation. It is important for these problems to be solved through dialogue, based on agreement. Acting US Ambassador Ross Wilson about Georgia's judicial reform

"The United States supports development of Georgia's judicial system. This issue is very important and priority for us, as it ensures the trust of the population towards democratic institutions. We're a bit disappointed about the recently passed legislation, because the recommendations issued by the EU, Council of Europe, OSCE and Venice Commission have not fully and relevantly been taken into consideration. We hope that the attention will be drawn to these issues in the future. The process must be transparent, the parliament must fulfill its critical role in this process and we must get the judges in the Supreme Court who will enjoy a high public confidence, "said Ross Wilson.
