LOST AFTER DESPERSE

‘They cursed us threatening to throw us into the Mtkvari’

After the gory night of May 26 indignation of people doesn’t decrease but a lot of them are frightened; besides, accurate information about many facts of abusing human rights is not spread. We don’t know yet whether out of the disappeared people everybody is alive, how many of them returned home, etc. Dachi Tsaguria, one of the civil activists attempting to collect information gave us an interview:

D.Ts. – Family members of

deceased participants of the rally are under big pressure and they can’t utter a word. They displayed unprecedented cynicism with regard to Nika Kvintradze’s family. How did Nika Kvintradze, whom they kept with his arms and legs tied (this is seen on the photo) appear on the roof? It’s cynicism to speak about alleged current rush. Nika’s son is in orison. He was the first person who was informed about his father’s death and they made him call home. It’s an inhuman action.

Many detained participants of the rally were found at the cemetery.

Q. – As we know, you are trying to collect information about the lost people.

D.Ts. – Their number makes 46 people. After disperse they didn’t return home. Their close people have been looking for them high and low. There is no detailed information and more than one of them may be dead.

Not long ago a drowned man was found in the Mnkvari; as they say he was a rally-participant. But this is to be specified. By the way, one of the sufferers (who was taken to the department, fined by GEL 400 and released) told me that the bus in which there were handcuffed people was taken to the Mtkvari, the detained people were thrown out and beaten. They cursed us threatening to throw us into the river. One corpse was allegedly found in Mtskheta.

Alarming information is coming from the ambulance doctors, prosectorium (I can’t yet name our sources). Presumably the number of deceased is much higher than official figures.

The information I gain will be presented to every civil rights international organization in order the May 26 events to be assessed as a terrorist act.
