Strong rain caused roof collapse in Batumi

Worsened weather conditions in Batumi on September 5 caused issues on several streets. Drainage channels on Gorgiladze and Griboyedov street crossing were flooded due to running water that partially covered vehicles’ wheels. Degraded visibility and standing water caused difficulties on Tchavtchavadze, Abuselidze, Pirosmani, Gorgasali and Aghmashenebeli streets. Street lighting and traffic lights malfunctioned on some streets, while the old Batumi Boulevard area was flooded. On 7, Gorgasali Street, a portion of an apartment’s roof collapsed due to strong rain, causing
damage to family equipment and furniture of the family of Kikavas.
Adjara Extraordinary and Urgent Situations Management Center has been in extraordinary operations mode for the days of the worsened weather.
