Rare models of “Zhiguli”, “Gaz”, “Zil” – Automuseum to open in Tbilisi
“In a few days, a car museum will open in Tbilisi,” this was declared by a museum representative in conversation with bpn.ge. The initiator of the idea and the museum’s founder is a private collector and businessman Giorgi Mamulashvili, who promised to present 24 rare cars to onlookers on the 25th of October, the day when the museum opens.

The businessman’s collection features cars such as “Zil-115”, “Gaz-014”, “Gaz-22”, “Gaz-12”, “Zhiguli-01”, “Zhiguli-03”, “Zaz-965” and many others, all of which will
be available at the opening of the museum, along with an interesting history that each of them can boast. For example, “Zil-115” is a unique armored car which was used to transport members of Politburo. This earned it a nickname “member-carrier”. Only 106 cars of this model were made in the Soviet Union, with the one owned by Giorgi bearing index number 102.

As for ticket prices to enter the museum, it is not yet known, but the museum’s representatives say that the museum was not created for making a profit. Income it gains will be used for the museum’s maintenance.

The museum has ambitious plans: “There will be a café opened within the museum, where a retro trolleybus will be exhibited. There will also be a service shop where clients will be able to repair and renew their retro cars” – the museum’s representative claims.
