HiPP Organic Farming in Georgia - “The best from nature. The best for nature.”

HiPP Organic Farming in Georgia - “The best from nature. The best for nature.”
“Every success story starts with a brilliant idea. Our family company started out when Joseph Hipp first produced rusk flour for baby food and sold it in his bakery.” This is the way the Hipp family describes how their business began in 1899. HiPP is considered a pioneer of organic agriculture and today the comp
any distributes its baby care products in more than fifty countries.

The philosophy of the HiPP company has remained unchanged for decades, and implies attainment of a quality that is in harmony with nature.
“We believe that organic farming is the best way to protect our nature and make the world for us and our children livable in the future,” Stefan Hipp, 46, the heir to the family business and the company’s Managing Partner, tell us.
The first contact of the Hipps with Georgia began in 1995, through friendship between Claus Hipp, the father of Stefan Hipp and a Georgian musician. After arriving in Georgia, they realized there was great potential for agriculture and decided to start a farming business in the region of Gori. Everything began with an apple project processing, which involved many farmers throughout the country.
“On the one hand, our aim is to demonstrate to the locals what organic farming looks like, on the other hand, to convince them that this is a successful business. Hopefully we can also motivate other farmers. It’s a good way to export the products abroad as well,” Stefan Hipp explains.
Due to the significant potential in Georgia, apart from maintaining the apple project, Hipp has plans regarding other organic products as well.
“What distinguishes this company are environmentally friendly organic products that are free of chemical additives and that are safe for children. HiPP’s main principle is to find the best industries all over the world. The company’s research has revealed that Georgia has great potential for organic farming” Davit Mdivani, CEO of HiPP Georgia told us.
According to Stefan Hipp, organic products in Georgia are becoming more and more interesting, especially for young people. Since today they are thinking more about what they eat and also care more about the environment as well:
“You can compare it to Germany, forty years ago. Back then nobody knew about bio farming. And when we started with our first organic products, our competitors thought we were completely crazy! They thought five years later this company would not exist anymore. Of course it takes time to educate people – explaining what it is, but then it starts growing. And nowadays in Germany about seven percent of the total food market is already organic, which is an important indicator.”
For the HiPP company organic farming is a chain of processes in which, in order to achieve the ideal result, each link is of crucial importance: healthy soil, healthy plants, healthy animals and, ultimately, healthy people.
“Our competitors are going for quantity and we are going for quality,” Stefan Hipp explains. The claim is backed by a number of laboratory tests and international certificates proving the quality of their products. It is also noteworthy that HiPP controls not only the progress of production, but also the entire process of product delivery to the consumers: transportation, warehousing and distribution.
The company began its work with the purpose of feeding one family, the Hipps. Today they are taking care of millions of babies and toddlers. The main goal of the Hipps, however, remains unchanged even after a more than hundred years: a healthy baby.
