Former Tbilisi Mayor released: Emotional meeting with family and friends
18 September, 2015
Former Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava has been released from prison.

The City Court made this decision yesterday, on the basis of the Constitutional Court verdict according to which Gigi Ugulava’s complaint was partially satisfied. The complaint referred to the 9-month imprisonment. In particular, the court emphasized that the constitutional norm, about which Gigi Ugulava presented a complaint, prohibits the imprisonment for a longer period than it is allowed in the constitution. All this violates Ugulava’s rights.

One more trial
against Ugulava was still underway at Tbilisi City Court referring to the alienation of Imedi TV and Rike territory.
