Sending love form the court building: Former Tbilisi Mayor showed his family a heart sign
19 September, 2015
After the verdict was announced, the ex-mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava entered the city court. Before being officially arrested, he waved to his wife and children, who were standing outside, drew a heart on the window and showed them the same sign with his hands.

Tbilisi City Court delivered a ‘partly guilty’ verdict against former Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava in the Rike and Tbilservice cases, while it acquitted Davit Kezerashvili. Ugulava was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment for embezzlement in
the Tbilservice case, though the sentence was reduced to four years and six months in compliance with an amnesty.

The verdict was announced at 22.00 yesterday.

Ex-mayor of Tbilisi, Gigi Ugulava, was released from 14-month pretrial detention late on Thursday night, a day after the Constitutional Court ruled that keeping an accused person in detention beyond 9-month limitation is unconstitutional.
