14 January, 2016
Georgia’s one of the main symbols, Tbilisi TV Tower, was illuminated in the colors of Lithuanian flag from 7 pm to 9 pm yesterday to honor Lithuanian Freedom Defenders' Day and pay respect to those killed by the Soviet army in Vilnius in 1991. As The Lithuanian Embassy to Georgia said January 13 was similar to Georgia’s April 9, 1989 when twenty people were killed by the Soviet troops after they attacked peaceful protesters in Tbilisi. In relation to this day,
the Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili and Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia Giedrius Puodziunas laid a wreath at the memorial of April 9 tragedy victims in Tbilisi.
