inally ended up in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti region, namely in Bakurtsikhe village, where I come from, by the way. It was not really an easy task; we were exploring and examining this area and its conditions for 3 years. We wanted to use all the benefits of nature, the solar energy and also we studied the local soil to find out which plants and products it was suitable for. After many observations we also learned that the wind here blows from south and that’s why houses here don’t have windows on the southern wall. Ultimately we purchased the land and started building our dream house by ourselves. We decided to extract water and draw electricity by ourselves too. In addition, we settled on to build a bale house. In total, we spent 6000 GEL. We bought 190 straw bales, each for 90 tetris. Straw is a great insulator, is a breathable material that filters the air passing through it, and contrary to expectation, is fire-resistant when compressed. The house is 36 sq meters, second floor is 18 sq meters and it is so warm inside that we wore only t-shirts in winter. In addition, we made our own sewage treatment that is disposed in the field were the soil absorbs water without polluting the environment and also we have toilet inside the house, in comparison with other village houses, where ,as a rule, toilets are located outside, in the garden”, - Tina Samadashvili said.

“We were not afraid of changes and novelty. Even the fact that for someone it would be the subject of laughter did not stop us. Besides, building an energy-efficient house, we also refused all kinds of synthetic clothes and other necessary things such as toothpaste, soap and shampoo and decided to create and grow everything by ourselves. Don’t think that we are doing these because we are poor, I am founder of three companies and the head at three companies, yet I understood that having money does not mean that you can buy all the necessary things….”, - Noted Davit Chachanidze.
