The former Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili has sold a painting by Willem de Kooning, the famous Dutch artist, at New York auction,
for $61 million. This information was spread by a Dutch website volkskrant.nl.
According to the website, the identity of the individual who bought the painting, is not officially disclosed, however, it is known that the deal was made by telephone.
The initial price of the painting was $37 million, but later it reached 61 million.
It should also be noted that the most expensive painting by de Kooning is Interchange, painted in 1955 and sold at an auction for 279 million Euros.
As for the billionaire Ivanishvili, he is famous for being the owner of one of the most expensive art collections which is worth $1 billion.
