Burnt trade centre in Tbilisi: Aerial footage shows it all
30 January, 2017
The heavy fire has entirely destroyed the building of a trade centre Chidren’s World last night. Commodity of tens of traders have been burnt. Rescuers continue to work at the fire site.

Administration claims safety norms were observed in Children’s World trade center.

As they note, the guard regularly checks the area at night, as well as if all the doors are locked.

"Safety norms have been observed inside the building. This has not been the first case of a
fire in this area and in both cases the causes of fire were unknown”, the building administration said.

Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania spoke with the fire-affected traders and viewed the fire site on the ground.

According to him, the trade centre administration should take responsibility before the traders who suffered loss due the fire.

“Investigation should find out the causes of the fire. All questions should be answered by the investigation”, he said.

In addition, Narmania denied the victims’ claims that the fire brigades arrived late.

As for the compensation for the loss, according to them, the administration has not enough resources for it.

According to the part of the traders of the Children’s World trade center, the fire was not accidental. As they say, if it were not so, the fire would not have broken out at several places simultaneously.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the case under an article pertaining to destruction of another's property, causing substantial damage.

InterPressNews photo reporter Irakli Gedenidze has taken footage of the burnt Children's World trade center by a drone camera showing the scale of the damage.
