Tbilisi to turn into a Green City
Tbilisi City Hall has developed an action plan to improve ecological conditions in the city. The authorities have already received the initial working version of "Green City Action Plan" and now works on the final version are underway.

According to Irakli Lekvinadze, deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, the implementation of the "Green City Action Plan" is scheduled for the period until 2030 and is meant to achieve high standards in the direction of greening.

"Here are the directions of transport, environmental
and energy efficiency.

In addition, the implementation of the plan includes, for example, water and air cleanliness, transport ecology etc., " – Lekvinadze said.

According to the deputy mayor of Tbilisi, the ecologically pure transport development program has already begun with the introduction of MAN buses, abolition of parking taxes for accumulator vehicles and installation of their chargers. In the future the electric taxis may also me promoted.

"We welcome if electric cars are imported as taxis.

Special parking places for electric cars can be allocated, as well as installing equipment for charging devices, etc.", - Lekvinadze explains, adding that the details will be known after the completion of the project.

As for the issue of frequent construction works in Tbilisi, Irakli Lekvinadze said that implementation of measures to regulate this tendency has already begun.
The regulations have been set in order to promote greening. Of course the construction works give rise to dust elements, which is why the constructions will be more standardized once the general plan is adopted. "We want to support constructions with energy efficient technologies," – Lekvinadze says.

He also added that Tbilisi City Hall's priority is to build energy efficient houses, in which the private sector is also interested.
