Tea Ceremony to be held in the Japanese Garden in Tbilisi
The National Botanical Garden of Georgia and the Embassy of Japan in Georgia invites tea lovers to the Tea Ceremony. This aromatic and exotic event will be held in the Japanese Garden located in the National Botanical Garden of Tbilisi, on September 27 at 13:00.

Located in the foothills of Narikala Fortress in Tbilisi, National Botanical Garden occupies an area of 97 hectares and possesses a collection of over 4,500 plant groups.

How to get there: The main entrance to the Garden is at #1, Botanikuri St. in the old part of the city.

There is another entrance from Narikala Fortress that can be reached by cable ropeway that connects Rike Park to Narikala Fortress.

You can attend the event for free, yet the guests have to pay 2 GEL which is usual payment for visiting Tbilisi Botanical Garden.

The Tea Ceremony will be hosted by Japan tea master - Michiko Uchino who was invited toTbilisi particularly for this event.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Mr. Tadaharu Uehara and other representatives of the Embassy will be alo present at the event.

Tea ceremony, or Chanoyu, which is also known as The Way of Tea, or Sado, is a ritual preparation of green tea in front of the guests.

It is a choreographic ritual of preparing and serving Japanese green tea, called Matcha, together with traditional Japanese sweets to balance the bitter taste of the tea. \The whole process is not about drinking tea, but is about aesthetics, preparing a
bowl of tea wholeheartedly.

Japanese garden is one of the central symbols of Japanese culture. It was opened in the National Botanical Garden of Tbilisi in 2016.

The garden is located in lively area and covers 250 square meters. There are some well-known Japanese symbolic items in the garden as well : Torii Gate, Golden Gate (one of the symbols of Japanese beauty), Tasoutou style stone tower (sculpture for happiness and good fortune), Kasuga style stone lantern and traditional Japanese Golden Bridge. A Sculpture of the Mountain Fuji and specially imported peace of lava from the Fujisan Volcano decorate the garden as well.
