The renovated Monument in Gudauri to be opened on November 30
The full rehabilitation of the once Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument in Gudauri, mountainous resort of Georgia, will end on November 30. As a result, tourists and visitors will enjoy a renewed monument from that period. The monument is located on Jvari (cross) Pass, on the Georgian Military Road, at an elevation of 2.379 meters above the sea level. The place offers one of the most beautiful and mystical landscape views of
the country.

The old mosaic of the monument is being restored, and so-called “girdle” of the building is under the reconstruction as well. The pavement is being laid down on the road leading to the monument. Arranging of the recreational spaces and parking lots are also planned.

The project is being implemented by the joint collaboration of the companies Saxon and Idaaf Architects.

The Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument is a monument built in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and so-called “friendship” between Georgia and Soviet Russia. The monument has lost its meaning for years due to events that happened over the course of history and now it only represents an abandoned statue.

The monument is located on a high hill, set back from the road, with impressive views of the valley and mountains. The site remains visually stunning across seasonal changes.

Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri and the Jvari pass, the monument is a large round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus Mountains. Inside the monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of Georgian and Russian history.
