Georgia’s Constitutional Court decriminalizes regular use of cannabis

Under the decision of Georgia’s Constitutional Court, the use of cannabis has been decriminalized.

As the court Main Advisor Salome Khujadze has reported, the request of ‘Girchi’ organization over lifting criminal responsibility for regular of marijuana has been satisfied.

According to her the court says individuals should not be held criminally responsible for harming their health. It is not compatible to principles of free society in general.

‘The claimant demanded the criminal responsibility to be lifted for use of cannabis.
Speaking simply, he demanded its decriminalization. The Constitutional Court explained that there is no threat of selling marijuana when an individual consumes it,’ Salome Khujadze has remarked.
