12 December, 2017
20-year-old Luka Lomtadze will join the world's most popular social network Facebook team from this May. The student, currently studying at the Faculty of Computer Engineering in San Diego State University, has been selected among 250,000 applicants and joined other 300 students who will pass the internship at the company.

When Luka was asked whether he expected that his candidacy would be accepted, the student responded that he never does anything by just hoping and that everything does is the
result of his work.

“I thought I was a very good candidate and I knew that I would achieve my goal. From the fifth grade I was preparing for it. As a software developer, I will work for 3 months in Facebook. The teams are distributed 1-2 months prior to the start, but I am confident that I can work well on any project with my experience", - Luka elaborates.

The experience he has is really great: In the course of the school, he was 3 times in the list of winners in the National Informatics Olympiad. In the 10th grade he started writing the software systems on different platforms.

"In total, I started 8 tech startups, now 2 is actively working. While staying in Georgia I decided to use all the possibilities that I had and develop at a faster pace. I started working from the first semester and before coming to California I worked at 10 organizations as a software developer. One such institution was the Ministry of Education, where I created mobile app for National Examinations Center. This application allows students to do the tests of the national or school exams using their phones and prepare for the exams better.

In the end, the project was built in almost every popular language for different programmable platforms and that was a great experience."

After the Facebook administration got acquainted with its resume, two technical interviews were conducted in the head office.

"The whole process lasted for 2 months and eventually I achieved the goal that I started to move towards 10 years ago" - A young programmer adds.

Speaking about the competition, he recalls that it was the most unusual interview that he had ever gone through - "Those interviews differ radically from all the job interviews I've had so far."They didn’t ask me about my past experience. They only gave me technical problems to solve them optimally as possible."

According to a young programmer, working with Facebook programmers will be a great experience for him and his resume will be even richer, which will be taken by future employers into consideration. "If someone reads Facebook in the list of work experiences, the rest will be only a matter of little interest for them, in my opinion”.

Luka is actively involved in the programming from the fifth grade. However, even though he is constantly busy, he doesn’t forget his hobby:

"I won an annual photo contest at my university twice, and I love meeting new people, making friends of different nationalities. I also like to read", - He says.

He also shares his experience with other people and helps them to study difficult issues.

“As for the future plans, Luka still doesn’t know what he is going to do after graduating from the university. "There are so many things that can be done in these 2 years before I graduate from the university, I cannot say exactly where I will be. However I know that I will work for the people who need me and where I will be happy to work”, - Luka Lomtadze notes.
