Citizens gather to protest Georgian man’s death in Georgia’s occupied region
An event under the title “Peace is more than War” was held in the Freedom Square to express solidarity to Archil Tatunashvili and protest against Russian occupation.

The event was planned by citizens through social networks. They called on politicians, officials, and representatives of various organizations to put aside their own interests and join the rally as part of the civil society without any status.

Simultaneous events were held in several cities of Georgia.

As a reminder, on February 22, the occupation regime detained three citizens of Georgia – Archil Tatunashvili, Levan Qutashvili and Ioseb Pavliashvili in Akhalgori. One of the detainees, Archil Tatunashvili, died in prison on February 23.

The International Committee of the Red Cross expresses readiness to take part in the transfer of Archil Tutunashvili's body to the controlled territory of the Georgian government, - Diana Japaridze, the adviser to the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross International Committee, noted.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, which is a neutral, impartial and independent organization, is following this issue. We have a dialogue with relevant agencies and we are ready to take part in the transfer of Mr. Tatunashvili's body," Diana Japaridze said.

According to the Patriarchate of Georgia, the Russian Patriarchate informed the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II that the Patriarch of Russia has already got involved in the transfer of Archil Tatunashvili's body to the family and will try to achieve all in the shortest possible time.

"The Russian Patriarchate contacted and informed us that they received the letter of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and sent it to the Russian Patriarch who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.

His holiness Kirill said that, at the request of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, he got involved in the transfer of Archil's body to the family and will try to achieve it in the shortest possible time.

According to the information obtained at this time, the body is under examination and it will be brought to Georgia by the international organization Red Cross," the Georgian Patriarchate says in a statement.
