My country is occupied – Passport wallet which tells the world that Georgia is occupied by Russia
When they are trying to take away your land and independence, intrude in your yards with barbed wires, you should definitely find some ways to tell the story of occupation. This is the idea behind extraordinary passport cases that has recently appeared on the market.

The item which we are telling about automatically makes your passport an ID card occupied by 20%. This is the passport wallet which informs the whole world that 20% of your country is occupied.

“I believe that all of us want to tell the whole world that the occupation is happening here, and right now, that 20% of Georgia’s territory is occupied by Russia,” the author of the idea Giovanni Morra explains.

Giovanni Morra is an Italian born designer who travels the world to explore different cultures and experiences, currently he resides in Georgia where he is waiting for new experiences and discoveries.

According to him, the small details can tell the story better and louder than the words can.

“Freedom and independence will never get used to barbed wires; you can place your main idea on your passport and travel with it throughout the world” Giovanni Morra says.

The author of the visual idea is Georgian artist Giorgi Popiashvili.

The price of the passport wallet is 30 GEL. You can buy the item online here.

In August 2008, Russian military forces entered Georgia. Russian troops had illicitly advanced into the Tskhinvali Region (also known as South Ossetia) zone on 7 August before the Georgian military response. Russia accused Georgia of "aggression against South Ossetia", and launched a large-scale land, air and sea invasion of Georgia on 8 August with the pretext of "peace enforcement" operation.

Russian and Ossetian forces battled Georgian forces in and around South Ossetia for several days, until Georgian forces retreated. Russian and Abkhazian forces (another occupied region of Georgia) opened a second front by attacking the Kodori Gorge held by Georgia. Russian naval forces blockaded part of the Georgian coast. The Russian air force attacked targets beyond the conflict zone, in undisputed parts of Georgia. The French presidency of the European Union, in the person of Nicolas Sarkozy, negotiated a ceasefire agreement on 12 August.

Russia has, since the war, occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia in violation of the ceasefire agreement of August 2008. 20% of Georgia’s territory still remains occupied by Russian troops.
