Officials responsible for Gudauri ski lift accident resign
Due to the ropeway incident in Gudauri on March 16, Deputy Director of Mountain Resorts Development Company and Head of Gudauri Mountain Management Department have left their posts.

First Vice-prime Minister, Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili said at a briefing on March 23. He said that the ropeway operator has also been resigned.

At the briefing the first Vice-Premier revealed a preliminary conclusion of the company
"Bureau Veritas" regarding the incident. He said that March 16, the Gudarui incident occurred because of human error after voltage drop there.

“It has been revealed that on March 16 a voltage drop caused suspension of the ropeway’s work,” Kumsishvili said adding that the ropeway operator failed to act relevantly.

Energo Pro Georgia power operator reiterates that there was not voltage drop or power suspension in Gudauri resort zone on March 16. Energo-Pro Georgia expresses its readiness to submit experts the documents confirming that there was no delay in electricity supply or any voltage drop in the Gudauri resort zone on March 16.

“The initial conclusion of the international experts may involve any gaps in the internal, local power network of ropeways, including the voltage drop. However, JSC Energo-Pro Georgia does not have any information on the fault of the local network as the company does not carry out the operation of the network, therefore it is not responsible for its functioning. JSC Energo Pro Georgia expresses its readiness to submit experts the documents confirming that there was no delay in electricity supply in the Gudauri resort zone on March 16, "the statement reads.

As a reminder, 11 people been injured in a ropeway crash in Gudauri resort on March 16. One of them was  pregnant citizen of Sweden, 6 citizens of Russia and 4 citizens of Ukraine.
