Georgian citizen detained earlier by so-called Russian border guards released
So-called Russian border guards detained local resident Tamaz Iluridze near the occupied territory, at the edge of Plavismani village, Gori district, on April 17.

Iluridze and his neighbor Gela Giunashvili were herding when the armed persons arrested him. As for Gela Giunashvili, he managed to escape and informed police about his kidnapping.

Residents of Plavismani say Iluridze and Giunashvili were on the territory controlled by the Georgian central Government and not on the territory controlled by the so called “de-facto
regime” of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).

Tamaz Iluridze, who was detained on the perimeter of the occupied territories by the so-called border guards, has been released, according to the State Security Service.

As reported by Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS), in 2017, 126 Georgian citizens were illegally detained by Russia-controlled border guards last year at the Georgia-breakaway Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) occupation line and 52 others at the Georgia-occupied Abkhazia so-called boundary line.

In last two months, this is already the third case of a Georgian citizen being captured in the conflict zone.

On February 23, it was reported that Archil Tatunashvili died in unclear circumstances. The authorities of the occupied South Ossetia said that Tatunashvili fell down the stairs when resisting law enforcers.

Borderline Tskhinvali

Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) released two citizens of Georgia, who were detained together with Archil Tatunashvili, from illegal imprisonment on March 12. They left the occupied territory of Georgia. Levan Qutashvili and Ioseb Pavliashvili are on the territory under the control of Georgia's central government.

As it has become known recently, Archil Tatunashvili’s organs had been removed while the body was on the territory of occupied Tskhinvali Region, what makes it almost impossible to conduct the complete examination of his body and reveal the reason of death.

Archil Tatunashvili's family demands transfer of Tatunashvili's organs as well as medical and legal documents through international organizations, - lawyer Tamar Avaliani told journalists.

Tamar Avaliani and Archil Tatunashvili's father Givi Tatunashvili officially got acquainted with the investigation results.

“We met with the prosecutor, investigators and investigative team, as well as the district prosecutor. They informed us about the progress of the investigation. We look forward to the examination results, but we were told that establishment of the death cause may be complicated by the fact that Archil Tatunashvili’s organs had been removed. We told the investigators that we are requesting the government to raise the issue of transfer of organs. At the same time, we know that the Tskhinvali side has not handed over medical documentation to the Georgian side either. Georgian law enforcers expressed their readiness to cooperate with the international organizations," said Tamar Avaliani.
