So-called border guards kidnapped another citizen of Georgia near the occupation line in Gori municipality. Akaki Misireli, a resident of the village of Kere, was taken to the Tskhinvali (so called South Osseti) militia. The details of the incident are being specified.

The hotline of the EU Monitoring Mission has been launched relating to the fact.

5 Georgian citizens have been illegally detained (kidnapped)by the so-called border guards this month. Four persons have been released.

Between January 1 and May
11, 2018, 19 citizens of Georgia were arrested in the occupied Tskhinvali Region and 16 - in the occupied region of Abkhazia for allegedly crossing crossing of the so-called border.

According to the information provided by the Georgian State Security Service, in 2017, there were 52 cases of detention for so called “illegal crossing” of the border in the direction of Abkhazia and 126 - in the direction of Tskhinvali.

According to the State Security Service, on the next day he was released from illegal imprisonment without paying the fine.

Earlier, on March 22, the so-ccalled “de-facto” regime of South Ossetia accused two Georgian residents of the village of Adzvi, Gori municipality, 40-year-old Ioseb Gundishvili and 30-year-old Davit Gerkeuli of violating of so-called borderline and detained them. They were released from illegal imprisonment after paying the fine.

However, the most tragic and painful accident for the whole country occurred on February 22, when the occupation regime arrested three Georgian citizens - Archil Tatunashvili, Levan Kutashvili and Ioseb Pavliashvili in Akhalgori.

The kidnapping of Georgian citizens resulted in one of the detainees, Archil Tatunashvili’s death in unclear circumstances. The authorities of the occupied South Ossetia said that Tatunashvili fell down the stairs when resisting law enforcers, despite the fact that Georgian soldier’s body (it was handed over to the Georgian side after being detained on the territory of Tskhinvali for almost one month) had a clear signs of violence and torture.

Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) released two citizens of Georgia, who were detained together with Archil Tatunashvili, from illegal imprisonment on March 12.

Archil Tatunashvili's body had been examined at the National Forensics Bureau, but establishment of the death cause is complicated, since Archil Tatunashvili’s organs, in particular brain and heart, were removed while the body was on the territory of occupied Tskhinvali Region.

Georgian soldier’s family and the lawyer Tamar Avaliani demand transfer of Tatunashvili's organs from occupied Tskhinvali as well as medical and legal documents through international organizations.

“We told the investigators that we are requesting the government to raise the issue of transfer of organs. At the same time, we know that the Tskhinvali side has not handed over medical documentation to the Georgian side either. Georgian law enforcers expressed their readiness to cooperate with the international organizations," said Tamar Avaliani.
